Job summary:
A Cement Intern will be responsible for learning fundamental aspects of the business while carrying out duties assigned by the supervisor. An intern will be responsible for carrying out on the job training utilizing CEMEX’s model of “learn by doing”. While working for CEMEX, an intern will be observed and evaluated for potential future, full time employment opportunities, particularly for the Talent Development Professional position.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • As a Cement Intern, you will:
    • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and visitors to our facilities
    • Participate in various training
    • Work with engineers in the facilities
    • Work in the field gathering samples, collecting data and observing processes
    • Use tools, computers, software, and other resources to complete analysis
    • Participate in projects that may require hands on field work
    • Any other assignments based on management discretion and individual locations
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications:
  • Must be in 3rd or 4th year of completing your Bachelor's Degree.  Bachelor's Degree preferred in:
    • Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Highly proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Possesses analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills 
  • Ability to prioritize projects, allocate resources and interact with all levels in an organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Working conditions:
  • Capability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
  • Capable of working in an open office environment
  • Capable of working in a construction site, manufacturing site, and/or industrial setting
  • Ability to participate in required overnight travel as necessary 
  • Some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures
Physical requirements:
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders on structures that may be in excess of 150 feet, at times requiring the use of fall protection gear
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear to communicate to employees/visitors
