Job summary
The Cement Paving Solutions Engineer will establish and sustain essential contact with public agencies, contractors, private developers, and engineers. The Cement Paving Solutions Engineer shall promote CEMEX cementitious products and services for local streets and roads, residential streets, DOT applications, commercial and industrial applications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working in conjunction with the cement commercial team, build and maintain collaborative relationships with contractors engaged in cement-based pavement solutions  
  • Develop, promote, and grow the use of cement- and concrete-based pavement options (roller compacted concrete, concrete pavements, full depth reclamation, cement treated bases, and soil cement) on specific projects 
  • Provide support to concrete based pavement solutions including concrete pavements and roller compacted concrete
  • Interact with and provide assistance to CEMEX Cement and Concrete sales and CEMEX Paving Solutions regarding the use of cement-based pavement options
  • Engage with design & specifying community as well as contractors, provide market intelligence to commercial team to support decision making on specific projects
  • Identify and rewrite key specifications within the territory that need modifications to allow for cement-based pavement options
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge set on cement stabilized subgrades and full depth reclamation, including pavement design practices, equipment, construction and maintenance practices and costs, as well as performance
  • Develop a prioritized call list of Engineers, agencies, developers, owners and contractors within the territory
  • Develop the communication skills needed to meet with public agencies, developers, Engineering Consultants, owners and contractors to discuss above mentioned targets
  • Develop pavement designs, cost analysis, promotional materials, and other technical information needed to sell the alternate cement - based pavement options 
  • Develop and deliver presentations to paving contractors, design engineers, geotechnical engineers, public agencies, University classes, etc. to educate them on the use of cement - based pavement options
  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with customers, public agencies, developers, Engineering Consultants, and contractors.  Utilize these relationships to grow the use of cement - based pavement options
  • Assist with developing and training contractors in the region as needed for specific cement based paving solutions
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering or construction science with 5 years of experience, or Masters of Science in Pavement Engineering, construction science, or construction materials
  • Professional Engineering License in local State or ability to obtain within 2 years is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Geotechnical Engineering, Land Development, Construction estimating or sales experience is a plus
  • Technical knowledge of pavement designs, mix design or construction of full depth reclamation, soil stabilization with cement, conventional concrete, Roller Compacted concrete, asphalt and other pavement applications
  • Technical knowledge of cement and concrete materials
  • Ability to communicate and interact with public agencies, developers, Engineering Consultants, and contractors who work on pavement projects
  • Strong personal relationship and presentation skills, well organized, and market/business savvy
  • Experience participating in commercial and or business transaction environments such as front line interaction with owners or public agencies is a plus
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
  • Excellent verbal & written communication

Physical requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
