Job summary
The Logistics Planning Director will be responsible for leading the overall demand and supply planning process for cement in the U.S., including manufacturing, imports, logistics and terminal operations to ensure optimal supply cost while maintaining target customer service level.  The role has responsibility over all S&OP related activities, including defining inventory targets, capacity utilization, leading interactions with commercial, operations, and planning teams, and reporting on process related KPIs.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly S&OP process for cement, including demand planning, capacity planning, inventory management, and supply optimization.
  • Chair monthly S&OP meeting with top executives from Cement business to ensure realization of monthly and yearly S&OP targets for production planning, inventory optimization, and supply cost.
  • Responsible for coordination of demand planning process, including statistical demand forecast, forecast consensus, and KPI management, including MAPE and bias.
  • Coordinate annual budget process for cement supply, including terminal cost, transfer freight, customer freight, imports, and third-party purchases (with total spend over $350 M USD).  
  • Coordinate overall 5-year supply plan for cement, including capacity utilization, imports, third party purchases.  Developed strategies to optimize total supply cost, including network design and CAPEX investing.
  • Lead corporate logistics planning team, including talent acquisition and development.  Provide coaching to direct team members and other functional team members to enable S&OP functional excellence.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to support regional operation as needed, including researching business issues to identify risks and opportunities in supply/demand dynamics.
  • Provide deep dive analysis of specific topics/areas of concern and facilitates resolution and action plan for the identified issues.

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience within Supply Chain domain
  • Bachelor's degree required.  Master’s or MBA preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  High proficiency in optimization and scenario modeling, Excel (spreadsheets) and PowerPoint

  • Superior interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate and communicate with all levels of the organization, including internal and external audiences
  • Extensive influencing and collaboration skills
  • Ability to identify root cause and develop systemic resolution
  • Deep expertise and exposure to different organizational disciplines
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Desired (but not mandatory) experience in construction industry             

Working conditions
  • Capable to work extended hours as needed
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment

Physical requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.   Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
