Job summary

The Analyst, Retirement Benefits will be responsible for day-to-day administration and operation of all qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. This position is also responsible for providing excellent service to employees regarding retirement benefits.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Day-to-day administration and operation of all qualified and non-qualified retirement plans- (401(k)), pension, executive deferred compensation, multi-employer plan including contribution/funding reconciliation, distributions, match true up, benefit file coordination and maintenance 
  • Ensure that plans are administered in compliance with the plan documents and federal regulations, including all required reporting and disclosures to governmental agencies and notices to participants, etc.
  • Work with appropriate record keeper to interpret plan rules and to resolve complex issues related to plan members
  • Manage the 401(k) and Pension Plan annual audit, 5500 process, compliance testing (Non-Discrimination), SAR distributions and other legal notices 
  • Serve as the primary contact for TPA regarding the administration of retirement benefits programs  
  • Work with TPA to develop communication and education materials for all retirement plans.  Promotion of awareness and understanding of CEMEX's retirement offerings 
  • Lead the technical support for 401(k)/SERP plan changes and year-end processing including, but not limited to, internal system updates to plans, special vendor feeds, and company payroll schedule distribution to vendors 
  • Monitor file transmission, ensuring successful loading of data to applicable system, and addressing data issues that arise with file loads
  • Responsible for providing financial metrics and cost analysis of the retirement plans; coordination of Pension funding forecast and PBGC premium  
  • Assist with strategies to provide innovative ideas to modify and enhance existing retirement plans to assure that plans are competitive within the market
  • Facilitate SERP open enrollments
  • Provide subject matter expertise for escalated case management received by HR Service Center. Interact with corporate and field Human Resources, as well as, employees and retirees to resolve benefit-related issues 
  • Provide ad-hoc reports to various HR staff, Accounting, HRIS and Payroll
  • Research former employees’ requests regarding distributions, contributions or various other items
  • Manage and process Health Saving Account (HSA) employer/employee funding
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree required. Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • 3- 5 years of related experience required
  • Experience using vendor portal for plan sponsor administration required (e.g., Fidelity's PSW, Prudential)

  • Broad level of knowledge of the rules that govern both qualified and non-qualified retirement plans

Working conditions
  • Capable to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
  • Capable of working in an open concept office environment
  • Ability to participate in required overnight travel as needed 

Physical requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.  
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
